In Iran's educational system, the teaching of Arabic holds a special status because of its deep connection to religion and national culture, requiring skilled teachers with advanced instructional abilities. Arabic, characterized by complex grammatical rules and cultural nuances, presents unique challenges for educators that can only be addressed through practical and experiential training.The internship course serves as a practical phase that provides Arabic language student-teachers with the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in real educational settings and enhance their teaching, communication, and cultural competencies. During this period, student-teachers face challenges such as teaching complex syntactic and morphological rules, simplifying difficult concepts, and fostering positive interactions with students. The internship enables them to experiment with effective and diverse teaching methods prior to entering actual classrooms and develop flexible strategies to meet the varied needs of learners.A key outcome of the internship is the improvement of communication skills, including mastery of correct pronunciation, the ability to convey complex concepts, and the use of modern educational tools such as language games and technological aids. Additionally, the internship familiarizes student-teachers with cultural diversity among learners and nurtures their cultural awareness, which plays a crucial role in teaching Arabic as a means of transmitting social and cultural values.This study employs qualitative and quantitative data analysis, including questionnaires, interviews, and classroom observations, to examine how the internship period contributes to the professional development of Arabic language student-teachers. The research population consists of 128 student-teachers currently enrolled in or recently graduated from the internship program. The primary research question addresses how the internship can prepare student-teachers for real classroom challenges and educational demands before formal teaching. Further questions explore the professional competencies required of effective Arabic teachers, the role of the internship in developing communicative skills, and the challenges encountered during the internship alongside possible solutions.Findings indicate that effective Arabic language teaching necessitates attributes that enable teachers to efficiently manage the teaching-learning process, including proficiency in Arabic, the ability to employ interactive teaching methods, strong communication skills, and literary awareness. Professional teachers with these qualifications can guide students toward deeper and more effective language acquisition. The internship plays a vital role in strengthening these competencies by offering practical experience in classroom management, instruction in innovative teaching techniques, constructive feedback, and increased self-confidence, all contributing to the professional growth of student-teachers.Nonetheless, the internship period is accompanied by challenges, some general and some specific to foreign language education, particularly Arabic. Common issues include limited practical experience in classroom management, communicative tensions with students, and lack of educational resources. Specific challenges related to Arabic instruction involve three major factors: traditional teaching methods, which are often cited by students as discouraging and should be avoided; linguistic and grammatical differences between Persian and Arabic, which complicate learning if improper methods are used; and cultural resistance or lack of motivation among learners, sometimes stemming from unawareness of the deep cultural and linguistic ties between Arabic and Iranian culture. Due to inexperience, student-teachers may face these obstacles more acutely than veteran teachers, yet the internship period offers a valuable opportunity to devise solutions prior to entering real classrooms, enabling them to begin their noble teaching profession well-prepared and confident.Ultimately, this study emphasizes the critical role of internships in preparing Arabic language student-teachers and enhancing the quality of Arabic language education in schools.

The study focuses on how trauma, social pressure, memory, and cultural hegemony contribute to the ... أكثر This research, entitled Self-Fragmentation and Splitting in Badriya Al-Badri’s Novel “The Last Crossing” (A Cultural Study), examines the complex phenomenon of psychological and cultural self-division as reflected in Al-Badri’s narrative. The study focuses on how trauma, social pressure, memory, and cultural hegemony contribute to the disintegration of identity and the loss of personal cohesion in contemporary Arabic fiction. Self-fragmentation, as a literary and psychological concept, denotes a deep internal division in which conflicting elements of the self engage in continuous struggle, resulting in alienation and emotional instability. The novel The Last Crossing presents this condition through the experiences of its main character, Mukhtar, whose psychological and social crises embody the tension between individuality and external constraint in a postcolonial Arab context.The study begins with an introduction that situates the topic within the broader field of cultural and psychological criticism. In an era of rapid social transformation and political turbulence, identity no longer appears as a stable or unified entity. Literature-especially the modern Arabic novel-becomes a medium through which the fractured self and its internal conflicts are expressed. Within this framework, Al-Badri’s novel provides a fertile ground for analyzing the fragmentation of the self under pressure from both internal and external forces. The research aims to explore the various manifestations of self-fragmentation and to interpret them as cultural signs of human and social crises.The main research questions addressed are:What are the key manifestations of self-fragmentation and identity splitting in The Last Crossing?How does the tension between past and present express the divided condition of the characters in the novel?In the background of the study, the researcher reviews previous works on identity fragmentation in modern Arabic novels, such as studies by Jassim Ismail, Talal Al-Thaqafi, Hania Mashqooq, and others. These earlier studies mostly focused on psychological or structural aspects of fragmentation. The novelty of this research lies in its cultural approach, which analyzes self-fragmentation as a result of overlapping forces-psychological, social, and ideological-and examines a contemporary Omani text that had not yet been critically analyzed in this way.Methodologically, the study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach, combining textual analysis with theoretical perspectives from psychoanalysis (particularly Freud’s tripartite model of the psyche) and cultural criticism (drawing from Gramsci’s concept of hegemony). This approach allows the research to interpret the fragmentation of characters not merely as personal weakness, but as a reflection of cultural conflict and social dominance.The findings reveal five major dimensions of self-fragmentation in the novel:Dualities and internal conflict, where the protagonist oscillates between obedience and rebellion, belonging and alienation, freedom and constraint.Identity conflict, manifested in the tension between inherited cultural values and individual authenticity, especially within patriarchal and traditional definitions of masculinity.Social pressure, which transforms labor and survival into mechanisms of dehumanization and alienation, particularly in the context of migrant labor and class exploitation.Memory and trauma, where childhood wounds, punishment, and loss persist as active psychological forces shaping adult consciousness and perpetuating pain.Cultural hegemony, which imposes dominant ideologies that silence the individual’s voice, linking personal suffering to broader systems of political and cultural domination, such as colonialism and social control.Through these elements, Al-Badri’s The Last Crossing transcends the boundaries of a simple narrative about exile and marginalization. It becomes a profound psychocultural exploration of how individuals are internally fragmented by social hierarchies, historical trauma, and cultural constraints. The novel’s depiction of characters such as Mukhtar, Abdullah, and other marginalized figures reflects the collective condition of displacement and inner rupture faced by Arab individuals in modern times.In conclusion, the study demonstrates that Al-Badri’s narrative presents a multidimensional portrait of the divided self-caught between memory and present, emotion and suppression, individuality and conformity. The novel not only exposes the disintegration of identity but also hints at the possibility of reconstruction through awareness, empathy, and resistance to cultural domination. By merging psychological depth with social critique, The Last Crossing stands as a significant contribution to modern Arabic fiction, offering a mirror to the crises of the contemporary Arab self.

Such research can reveal points of convergence and divergence among different literary traditions, contributing to a better comprehension of the relationship between literature and society. This study adopts a qualitative methodology with a descriptive-analytical approach, systematically examining data based on the theoretical foundations of the American School of Comparative Literature. It conducts a comparative analysis of two central themes—protest and peace—in the poetry of Seyyed Hassan Hosseini (an Iranian poet) and Mahmoud Darwish (a Palestinian poet). The findings indicate that both poets, despite geographical and cultural differences, employ these two themes as powerful expressive tools to reflect their ideals. In the realm of protest, Hosseini blends epic and mystical language, drawing on religious symbols to articulate protest within a framework of spiritual discourse and sacred values. In contrast, Darwish employs an emotive language and tangible imagery, directing his protest against occupation and oppression. Regarding the theme of peace, Hosseini associates it with the concept of spiritual triumph, while Darwish portrays peace as the enduring aspiration of a people for a life of freedom. Stylistically, Hosseini utilizes classical Persian poetic structures, infusing them with contemporary themes, whereas Darwish elevates resistance poetry to a global level through formal and thematic innovation. These linguistic and thematic differences stem from the distinct socio-political contexts and value systems of the two poets. The primary contribution of this research lies in elucidating how shared human experiences are reflected through diverse cultural frameworks. Theoretically, it validates the efficacy of the American School in analyzing resistance literature, while practically, it underscores literature’s potential to foster intercultural dialogue. The findings may serve as a foundation for further studies in comparative literature and enhance the understanding of literature’s role in international discourse.

In this research, this methodology is applied to study the poetry of Shakir Al-Nashoor, one of the most influential figures in modern Iraqi poetry, which is characterized by rich symbolism and semantic complexity, as well as his unique ability to merge individual and collective concerns, making his texts rich with multiple levels of interpretation. Al-Nashoor’s poems provide fertile ground for exploring mechanisms of meaning generation through linguistic deviations, poetic imagery, and culturally significant symbols that carry deep connotations. Due to his reliance on complex narrative and poetic techniques, his poetry becomes an ideal model for applying a semiotic perspective, revealing how language is used to produce new meanings that reflect the poet's philosophical, social, and humanistic aspirations.The research adopted the analytical-descriptive method to study the semantic fields (natural, emotional, social/political, religious/spiritual) and signs (symbols, metaphors, myths) in Al-Nashoor's poetry, aiming to uncover the mechanisms that generate meaning and understand the poet's aesthetic and intellectual vision. The importance of the study lies in addressing the gap in research applying semiotics to modern Arabic poetry and highlighting the role of signs in shaping the unique identity of a poetic text. Among the key findings are: Al-Nashoor’s use of the natural field (such as the sea, night) to reflect the self's struggle between strength and weakness, transforming emotions (such as sadness, longing) into symbols that embody the existential contradictions of humanity, employing socio-political symbols (such as "soldiers," "occupied homeland") to critique authority, and integrating religious symbols (such as forgiveness, martyrdom) with modern deviations to create a discourse that balances rebellion and spirituality.
