Abstract
Changing teaching methods and improving teaching-learning processes have always been a real concern among educational theorists. This has emerged a multitude of theories following a wide array of researches-especially experimental ones- over this century. Generally speaking, the theorists of educational sciences have recommended various strategies to overcome the shortcomings of traditional methods of teaching. The exploratory learning is considered to be one of these strategies. Thus, this essay aims at examining the effect of deploying exploratory method of learning on creating interest and motivation toward grammar among the students of Arabic of the 1400 academic year of Farhangian University, Shahid Beheshti branch, Bandar Abbas. Besides, this study is focused on offering practical guidelines as to increasing motivation and learning passion among these students. Following the lack of interest toward grammar among these students, action research was deemed suitable for solving this problem. The statistical population consisted of all students of Arabic of the 1400 academic year. Data collection methods included questionnaires, interviews and observation. First, using direct observation and interviews helped us identify the lack of motivation as a common problem among the students. Consequently, the students lack of interest and transaction with curriculum content made us implement exploratory learning as a solution. Collected data through satisfaction questionnaires and classroom observation indicated that using exploratory learning improved considerably interest and motivation among students toward grammar and increased their educational activities.
