A study of the translation of the cultural categories of the Arabic novel based on the theory of Lawrence Venuti (Case study: Persian translation of the ors Al-Zein)

Abstract

Undoubtedly, the culture of any language community is its own. It will be different from one language to another. Since the beginning of the cultural exchanges of societies by translation, there has been a lot of discussion about how to translate cultural categories. One of the first experts to translate cultural issues was Lawrence Venuti. This research is based on descriptive-analytical and text-based methods by using the dualism of Domestication and Foreignization by Lawrence Venuti and the five cultural categories of Peter Newmark evaluates Sadegh Darabi's Persian translation of the cultural categories of the novel "ors Al-Zein" by Al- Tayyeb Saleh. The results of this study showed that the translator in order to access the fluent translations eliminates linguistic and cultural differences and using the element of Domestication, it has provided a favorable translation. Unlike Venuti He prefers to provide a fluent and popular translation based on the culture of the destination. He prefers to preserve the cultural identity of the source text and the cultural richness. This translation has found the verdict of an independent work by removing the signs of the original translations.
