Abstract
Today's poetry, in addition to preserving its former mission, is a tool in the hands of thinkers in human societies to fight against shortcomings and inaccuracies by relying on it. The Iraqi poet, Ahmed Matar, who is one of the penmen using the weapon of speech to enlighten, motivate, and persuade the members of the society, and to expose the oppressors in order to build an ideal society. Formalists study poetry from a psychological and linguistic points of view. One of the common terms in the research of this group is the dominant aspect, which is briefly referred to the comprehensive highlight of the poet's poems. The present article examined Ahmed Matar's poetry from this perspective and concluded with the following conclusions: The predominant aspect of his poetry, in terms of topic, struggles against inequality; and in terms of thought, is an idealism in accordance with the poet's beliefs. His idealism in depicting the dreamy utopia that he introduces through his poems is the product of the political crises of the time and place in which he lived, and the introduction of its various aspects stems from his moralization and poetic mission. A land whose aspects are realized with the same obsession and strictness that Ahmed Matar wants as if it could not be achieved in the outside world
