Recent developments in higher education, especially with the spread of new technologies, have revealed the need to revise traditional teaching methods. One new approach that has attracted much attention in language teaching is "flipped instruction."

The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of flipped instruction in improving learning and motivation among student teachers of Arabic language education at Farhangian University. The study was quasi-experimental, using a pretest-posttest design with a control group.

The population included all student teachers in the Arabic language education program in the 2024–2025 academic year. From these, 60 participants were selected via convenience sampling and matched into experimental and control groups.

The experimental group was taught for ten weeks using the Bergman and Sams (2022) flipped instruction model, while the control group received the same content traditionally. Data were collected through a specialized concepts learning test and an academic motivation questionnaire, analyzed via analysis of covariance.

Results showed that the experimental group's post-test means for both learning and motivation were significantly higher than the control group's (p<0.01). Qualitative analysis of students' reflections also revealed that flipped instruction increased self-regulation, active participation, and a sense of belonging to the learning process.

Overall, the findings indicate that applying flipped instruction in Arabic language teacher training can enhance conceptual learning, boost intrinsic motivation, and transform attitudes toward the roles of teacher and learner. This model can be an effective step toward active and technology-based learning at Farhangian University.
