المستخلص
Mastery over the four main language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—is considered a fundamental pillar of learning any second language, and the integration of these skills leads to comprehensive language reinforcement and proficiency. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the differences in the level of these four skills among Iraqi students at Yasouj University and seeks to provide suitable educational strategies for their enhancement. In this study, all four skills were measured, and the data were analyzed using statistical tests of analysis of variance (ANOVA), Tukey's post-hoc test, and correlation analysis between the skills. The findings indicate the existence of significant differences among the four skills. Accordingly, Arabic-speaking students learning Persian demonstrated the weakest performance in speaking skills and the best performance in listening skills. Furthermore, a high positive correlation was observed between their reading and writing skills. These results, in addition to emphasizing the necessity of integrated and balanced strengthening of all language skills, show that educational planning should be designed and implemented with a special focus and priority on improving speaking skills, followed by writing skills.
