Abstract
Considering the importance of university textbooks as one of the three sides of the educational triangle, their criticism and evaluation seems necessary to improve the quality and effectiveness of the inputs of the educational system. The book of practical Arabic language is one of the university books that has a basic and prerequisite role among the rules of the Arabic language. For the first time, this book has taught basic topics in different ways and with a text-based approach. Therefore, its review based on the basic standards of writing Arabic language textbooks is an effective step in improving the quality level and advancing the specific goals of academic teaching materials. In this regard, the present research tries to criticize and evaluate the aforementioned book by using the content analysis method and based on the developmental criteria of Ahmed Taimah in two components: general characteristics and features of book publishing.
The results of the research show that arranging the lessons based on the important and practical rules of simple knowledge, writing a principled and methodical introduction, and arranging the internal and subheadings in line with the content provided are among the merits of the practical Arabic language book. However, the existence of some scientific and writing mistakes in this book makes the necessity of its revision more obvious in order to advance the defined educational goals.
